Recommendation in choosing DNA comparison test
Saturday, 2010-07-10The deepest test type is recommended, because the DNA test results from Finnish origin people are close to each other and the closest DNA relative is not revealed by lower level test results. There are nearly 2000 Finnish origin people in DNA comparison. At the same time each test result will be world wide compared to 200 000 (direct father line) and 100 ooo (direct mother line) test results.
Male samples, recommendation:
Super DNA (67 markers, the higest level of direct father line + Full Sequence, the highest level of direct mother line)
or: Y-DNA 67 markers, highest level of direct father line
or: FGS, Full Sequence, highest level of direct mother line
Female samples:
FGS, Full Sequence, highest level of direct mother line (direct father line cannot be analysed)
If the original test level has been lower one, it can be upgraded from the same sample from Matches section, on the personal result page.
New 2010 Family Finder has less than 100 Finnish test results to compare, yet. It reveals up to fifth cousins new persons whose ancestors, not only direct father or direct mother ones, have lived for long time on a same area inside Finland. An early Family Finder test will not become obsolete, because the updating of your result will be run without additional charge. You only need time to time open your personal result page and check for new DNA relatives and can e-mail to the closest ones, if you like.
If your original test has covered only for example direct father line, you can order from the same sample the direct mother line or Family Finder by opening the Order tests & upgrades link on your personal result page.
Note that from female samples the direct father line result cannot be tested. Therefore females can ask their brother to give test sample, because the direct mother line result is the same as from his sister, but also direct father line can be analysed from the same sample.
